A Dog's Prayer

Treat me kindly, my beloved master for no heart in the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me. ~

Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I lick your hand between blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do. ~

Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footsteps fall upon my ear. ~

When it is cold and wet, please take me inside, for I am now a domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements. ~

And I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth ~

Though had you no home, I would rather follow you through ice and snow than rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest home in all the land, for you are my God, and I am your devoted worshiper. ~

Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. ~

Feed me clean food, that I may well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life should your life be in danger. ~

And, beloved master, should the Great Master see fit to deprive me of my health or sight, do not turn me away from you. ~

Rather hold me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest ..... And I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands.

Lunar Enchantments

A broom tied in ribbons, some stones, a lace shawl

A basket of candles, herbs hung on the wall

Incenses, oils, and a vase filled with flowers

Patiently wait as the clock ticks off hours

(Waiting till dusk gives release to the night

Waiting till stars are aloft and alight

Waiting for magic to call them to dance

Together, and manifest what was pure chance

Into reality --- into conclusion ---

Bringing true form to that which was illusion)

For the time when the wish and the effort are one

When the candles are lit and the spell is begun

When incense smoke curls around both herb and stone

When impossible dreams breathe a life of their own

For the time when the Full or the Crescent or Cloaked

Release Her power as She is invoked

When they dance in the magic and set it all free

As four words are uttered: "So Mote It Be!"

My Quilt

My neighbor is washing her windows, and scrubbing & mopping her floors, But my house is all topsy - turvy, and dust is behind all the doors.

My neighbor, she keeps her house spotless and she goes all day at a trot. But no one would know in a fortnight if she swept today or not.

The task I am at is enticing ... My neighbor is worn to a rag. I am making a quilt out of pieces I have saved in a pretty chinz bag.

And the quilt, I know my descendants will exhibit with prideful heart .... "So lovely, my grandmother made it. An example of patience and art."

But will her grandchildren remember her struggles with dirt and decay ? They will not ~ They will wish she had made them a quilt like I'm making today.

Tarot Magic

The tarot's a system - a spiritual tool

Of Power and symbols in the path of the fool

A system of cards that forecasts what may come

When the path is continued with changes undone

Giving us warning and shedding it's light

On personal patterns of wrong and right

It's a system that teaches empowerment too

And brings self-assurance to all that we do

But it's much more than that - more than any of these

It's a system where magic can take flight with ease

Where reality changes and all our requests

And all of our dreams and our goals manifest

Where anything's possible - well within reach

Even the most unattainable feat

Just a system of cards that's a spiritual tool

But it's one that can make all your wishes come

true
