Poetry - 7:

The Soothsayer

The soothsayer said in vain
The rain would not rain,
Now, it’s raining down to drain.

Out we go to play in the rain
This is the season we play in the rain,
March through November it’s always raining.

Shower and heavily will it rain,
Rain, rain run down the drain
Water in our compound we can’t dry.

Say what you see the soothsayer!
Rain we want and went for prayer
Secretly under the drier.

Our prayer was answered
So, out we all played
Up and down the road.

We wined and dined in the rain
Until kola and Bola fell into the drain,
We ran to our houses out of the rain.

  The Gift of a Quilt

This quilt was made with love and care,

To keep you from the cold night air.

I only ask you to treat it well,

For any broken stitch will tell.

If youngsters bounce upon your bed,

Then substitute another spread.

And don't spill tea or jam or cake,

Upon what took me years to make.

If you do stain it; I beseech,

I beg you - spare the chlorine bleach.

If you would hang it on the wall,

Forget the nails or not at all.

Protect from mildew and from moth,

Don't use it as a picnic cloth.

This quilt I made as a gift to you,

Is a wonderful piece of history, too.

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven

Hallowed be Thy name

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done

On Earth as it is in heaven

Give us this day our daily bread

And forgive us our trespasses

As we forgive those who trespass against us

And lead us not into temptation

But deliver us from evil

For thine is the kingdom

And the power and the glory

Forever --- Amen

Beautiful Irish Dreamer

Beautiful dreamer who wake in the morn
Love and sweet passion, wait here with the dawn
Sounds of the morning, come with the day
Ill' kiss your sweet lips, here in the hay
Beautiful dreamer the Queen, for whom i do long
Lie in the soft sunlight, on this beautiful day
Soft is your heartbeat, that beat so strong
Beautiful dreamer, for whom i do long
Beautiful dreamer, who bathe in the sea
Like Mermaids sun-baking, on a rock made for thee
Over the water my love is born free
Beautiful dreamer girl of my song
Beautiful dreamer for whom i do long
Life is so sad now, now that your gone
Love has left us gone with the dawn
Beautiful dreamer, let me dream on
Beautiful dreamer, please wait for me

Confucious Says:

"A fool despises good counsel, but a wise man takes it to heart

Sunkissed angel

Sunkissed angel by the sea
Dancing in the sand, so free
Sunkissed angel on airy wings
Rhythmic love songs she does sing

Sunkissed angel's raven tresses
Ocean breeze sweetly caresses
Sunkissed angel loves the sea
Brings to her, serenity

Goddess of the ocean calls
Angel, shine your light and love on all

The Storm

The lighting brings back memories.
The thunder shows my anger.
As the rain washes it away.

the birds fly by, I see my dreams.
As they go home. they're stolen from me.
As the rain washes it away.

The pedal filled with rain drops, I know I'm hurt.
As the rain drops roll off, they're like my tears.
As the rain washes it away.

The clouds are like my soul.
They hide the sun, like I hide my feelings.
As the rain washes it away.

As I sit on my porch,
Watching the rain wash things away.
I see that the storms a lot like me.

“When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives means the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving much advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a gentle and tender hand.

The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares”.

---Henri Nouwen

Wedding Prayer

Lord, behold our family here assembled.

We thank you for this place in which we dwell,

For the love that unites us,

For the peace accorded us this day,

For the hope with which we expect the morrow,

For the health, the work, the food,

And the bright skies that make our lives delightful;

For our friends in all parts of the earth…Amen.
