Poetry - 20:

 Today Is My Birthday

Today is my birthday I just turned fifty,

Some say life is a drag but I say its nifty.

I never considered that I'd live this long,

But since I have I'll sing me a song.

Today is my birthday did you get me a card,

Living 'til fifty really isn't that hard.

To be fifty years old and still have a spark,

You'd think that my life was but a lark.

Today is my birthday so lets eat some cake,

Or maybe we'll picnic down by the lake

 My Absent Aunt Connie

Tiny and awkward; I was this skinny little girl,

Cussing like a sailor enough to make your ears curl.

Snuck out of school to be a guest at your first wedding,

Our Aunt and Niece relationship to me was a Blessing.

Now all grown up - you in my life I miss,

And if I didn't tell you; then I'd be remiss.

We once shared a special bond so where did you go,

I love and miss you; I just thought that you should know.

 My Life With Asthma

Day after day I can't catch my breath,

It seems that the only cure for asthma is death.

When the humidity is high the air is quite thick,

It's hard to live a life when each day you feel sick.

Wheezing and coughing, everyone starts to stare,

All because my lungs can't fill up with air.

It's amazing to me how others take for granted,

Being able to breathe freely to me would be splendid.

Struggling for each breath is my life's biggest test,

One day I'll feel better and my lungs can then rest.

 Talking With Randy

Needing your advice once more I approach you,

And hatefully you yell leaving me without rescue.

I thought maybe you were tired so I left you to nap,

I tried again later and received more of your crap.

So now I wonder when I began to you to disgust,

Am I now your enemy; is that why I'm cussed?

I once was your wife instead of one you've harassed,

Out of four dogs plus me I come in dead last.

Is it so unreasonable for your wife to expect,

to be treated kindly and talked to with respect.

 Tico My Beloved

My beloved pet and best friend,

You were my faithful companion until the end.

Together were we for over thirteen years,

Now that you're gone I'm nothing but tears.

Tico my love What will I do,

To live life without you I haven't a clue.

By your side 'til the end you died in my arms,

How can I go on without your sweet charms?

You were everything to me you were my heart,

What on Earth will I do now that we are apart?

I know when its my time you'll be waiting for me,

But until that day comes my life will be empty.

Dedicated to a true cha-warrior who was the love of my life.

 Over and Done

I've had this feeling once and again,

The time has come for my life to end.

They say you won't be given more than you can take,

But of this I know better since I felt my heart break.

My intention is not to leave you in pain,

For me to go on would be living in vain.

You had nothing to do with my decision to go,

My life was too hard is what you should know.

So don't be unhappy and cry for me,

Instead be happy that finally I'm free.
