In
Loving Memory of Tico

|
A
Faithful Dog
A
faithful dog will play with you and
laugh with you or cry,
He'll
gladly starve to stay with you nor
ever reason why.
And
when you're feeling out of sorts somehow
he'll understand,
He'll
watch you with his shining eyes and
try to lick your hand.
His
blind implicit faith in you is
matched by his great love,
The
kind that all of us should have in
the Master up above.
When
everything is said and done I
guess this isn't odd,
For
when you spell "dog" backwards you
get the name of "God".

This
page was created to pay loving tribute to my beloved best friend, Tico.
I adopted Tico on October 23, 1995 from the Animal Shelter of Arlington,
Texas. His age at the time of the adoption was approximately 1 year old.
For almost 14 years we remained loving and faithful companions to each
other. As long as we were together nothing else mattered - We were
content. Tico left this world on June 25, 2009 and when he left he took
my heart with him. I will think of him and miss him each and every day
of the rest of my life. |
I Only Wanted You
They say memories are golden
Well maybe that is true.
I never wanted memories,
I only wanted you.
A million times I needed you,
A million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you
You never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place
No one could ever fill.
If tears could build a stairway
And heartache make a lane,
I'd walk the path to heaven
And bring you back again.

A Dog's Prayer
Treat
me kindly, my beloved master for no heart in the world is more grateful for
kindness than the loving heart of me. ~
Do
not break my spirit with a stick, for though I lick your hand between blows,
your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would
have me do.
Speak
to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by
the fierce wagging of my tail when your footsteps fall upon my ear. ~
When
it is cold and wet, please take me inside, for I am now a domesticated animal,
no longer used to bitter elements. ~
And
I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the
hearth ~
Though
had you no home, I would rather follow you through ice and snow than rest upon
the softest pillow in the warmest home in all the land, for you are my God, and
I am your devoted worshiper. ~
Keep
my pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you were it
dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. ~
Feed
me clean food, that I may well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by
your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life should
your life be in danger. ~
And,
beloved master, should the Great Master see fit to deprive me of my health or
sight, do not turn me away from you. ~
Rather
hold me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of
eternal rest ..... And I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my
fate was ever safest in your hands.

My
Dearest Best Friend
How
do I put into words this special bond that only we two share.
The
first day of our life together, on the drive home from the "Pet
Center " where I adopted you ~ I looked over at you.
You
were shivering; obviously apprehensive even a little frightened, yet
possibly relieved to be out of the cold and lonely confinement of the
"Dog Pound", I just smiled at you and said, "Damn, I sure
hope you grow on me!"
Now
a little over ten years later ~ I see you and wonder 'What will I do
when the day comes that I won't have you for my trusty companion ~
Please
know that even the times I act like you were a pest ... I adore you and
that my love for you is every bit as unconditional as your love for me.
I thank you for your unyielding devotion. Know that no other could ever
take your place in my heart.
Through
the years you have showed me a lot about love and loyalty. I am truly
grateful to have you, Tico, for my dearest best friend.
Without
a doubt ~ You grew on me!

Comes
an unconditional love that truly will astound.
Courageous

and attitude - this baby giant is full of,
If
you are his chosen one - He'll give you all his love.

Tico
My Beloved
My
beloved pet and best friend,
You
were my faithful companion until the end.
Together
were we for over 13 years,
Now
that you’re gone I’m nothing but tears.
Tico
my love what will I do,
To
live life without you I haven’t a clue.
By
your side ‘til the end you died in my arms,
How
can I go on without your sweet charms?
You
were everything to me; you were my heart,
What
on Earth will I do now that we are apart?
I
know when its my time you’ll be waiting for me,
But
until that day comes my life will be empty.

My Life's Struggle
I
spend each day at home all-alone,
I
wonder what I did for which to atone.
Since
recently I lost my sweet little dog,
My
existence has become but a hazy fog.
I
try very hard to get on with living my life,
But
living is hard when your life’s full of strife.
I
feel that I’m all empty and hollow inside,
If
I’d told you different then I would have lied.
Until
I am able to come up with a plan,
I’ll
struggle through life the best that I can.

You I Still Adore
I have a new puppy and I really
love her too,
But no matter what she does she
could never be you.
I've been struggling to go on; my
life to regain,
I have to give her credit; she helps
to ease my pain.
Since you've crossed over I have
felt the need to hide,
I'm hoping she will help to fill
the hollowness inside.
I look forward to the time when
it is you I get to see,
I know when that time comes
you'll be waiting for me.
With every day that passes I love
her more and more,
And even though this is so - its you
I still adore.

Two Years Gone
You left me and this world behind
two years ago today,
And I miss you more now than the
day you went away.
I have several little friends who
spend their time with me,
Yet mostly I long for the time
when it's you I'll see.
It's been two long years now and
I have missed you so,
Together one day again is
something that I know.
They say that in time my broken
heart will mend,
This hasn't been the case with
losing my best friend.
So for now I will struggle to get
through this world I'm part of,
Until one day together when we
reunite in love.

Heaven's
Doggy Door
My
best friend closed his eyes last night,
As his head was in my hand.
The Doctors said he was in pain,
And it was hard for him to stand.
The
thoughts that scurried through my head,
As I cradled him in my arms.
Were of his younger, puppy years,
And OH...his many charms.
Today,
there was no gentle nudge
With an intense "I love you gaze",
Only a heart that’s filled with tears
Remembering our joy filled days.
But an Angel just appeared to me,
And he said, "You should cry no more,
God also loves our canine friends,
He's installed a 'doggy-door"!

Little
Angels Poem
Little
angels from up above
Sent to us so full of love,
Never judging, always there
A faithful
heart that is so rare.
Gentle
eyes, shining bright
An energy of holy light,
Loyalty, that is unmatched
So easily
we are attached.
A
love so pure, none to compare
Sweet memories that we have shared,
Never could one ever dream
The impact
from this little being.
They
touch our lives more than we know
We live with them and watch them grow,
Share our laughs and our cries
Always
soothed by loving eyes.
Little
angels so strong and true
They live their lives just for you,
"Good-bye" for now, we'll meet again
My sweet
and pure, angelic friend.

I Still Miss You
It’s only been months
But I have not forgotten you,
Still remembering my friend
So loyal and true.
There’s not a day that goes bye
That you don’t enter my mind,
A friend that I had
Like no other kind.
I go out to our bench
Where we used to play,
And its then that I’m reminded
That you are not here today.
It saddens me so much
To think that you are gone,
But I know you are at peace
And your spirit will live on.
I think of you daily
As I look high above,
To send you sweet kisses
And my prayers with love.
